The Swedish Jonkopings Regiment |
The Semenovski Guard regiment. I had to paint the eagle and recolour the feathers on the flags. |
I've really enjoyed putting this together - not just the forces but the backstory and campaign as well. The next pocket project for use with One Hour Wargames based rules will be Samurai, followed by the Great Paraguayan War and then I have my eye on a conflict from 1894. More on that later. Right now I have a commission to paint!
Nate
You certainly made short work of that project!
ReplyDeleteSamurai? I can hardly wait.
A couple of weeks away, but I'm eager to get into them.
DeleteWell done Sir, you must be relieved to have it all complete.
ReplyDeleteYes, there is quite a bit of satisfaction in completing a project, however small. Even more so when you go straight into playing a campaign with the toys you've just dressed.
DeleteReally well done Nate! Great work on this project!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rodger. This one won't be heading south, but the next lot of painting will be!
DeleteI tried painting this same unit, and stopped because the color combination was so fugly. In retrospect the shade of blue I was using must have been too light; the unit you have painted looks great, so I will have to give mine another shot.
ReplyDeleteBest regards,
Chris
Are you talking about the Semenovski chaps? i've given them white stockings like the Hoglund book. I think that makes a difference to being all blue. And confession time - I started painting up this last lot of Swedes as the Narke-Varmland regiment and then decided I liked the colours of the Jonkopings regiment better, so changed it mid-way. So these guys have got blue breeches rather than leather. So if that is the unit you meant, that might also have something to do with it.
DeleteArrghhh I think I have to stop reading your blog! Every time I see an article on the GNW I get really keen to get some figures...but I have other projects to get on with, like the Crimean War...and then there is the Danish War of 1864 (I made a batch of masters for this war some years ago and being half way through a book on the subject and I am getting tempted to get them cast)!
ReplyDeleteSo I shouldn't do the 1864 pocket project any time soon then? I'm actually putting 1866 at number 5 on the list. I've got the Prussians - the infantry at least, just need some cavalry, artillery and Austrians.
DeleteI see that North Star have announced intentions to do Danes so I may not have to worry about casting my own.
