All property is theft

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But what about wholesale reblogging without credit? I have to say that on one hand it bolsters my ego to know that someone likes my stuff enough to post it again on their own blog. And I'm absolutely fine with that - nothing I write or photograph is so earth-shatteringly amazing that I don't want other people to do what they like with it. But this week I was alerted to the fact that there was another blog out there called Creepy Corridor which has effectively reposted everything that I've done in the last few months. OK, a bit stalkerish, but not a huge issue. However, Mr Corridor has edited all of these posts to remove my name from them and has not even linked them back to where he got them from. Effectively Monsieur Corridor is making it look like these are his own posts. Herr Corridor is unknown to me. There is no indication of who or what the blog-owner is and there has been no contact to ask whether I mind if he does this.
This isn't the kind of thing that will bring down governments or depress the economy. It isn't a matter of life and death, and as the revenue stream from my blog consists of a couple of prizes that I've won, it isn't impacting on my income. But it is pissing me off. My hope is that by posting this Senor Corridor will either desist from reposting EVERYTHING I do, or at least have the good manners to ask first or to provide a link to the site that it came from.
I haven't provided a link to CC's blog, because I'd rather not have any formal link between the two. If you want to google it and see what I'm ranting about, it was #3 google-whack for me.
A genuine photo of me about to go postal on something!
Nate (how I sign off all of my posts unless someone is reblogging them and removing my name)

  1. One wonders why someone would bother. I enjoy your blog but what does the other person get from it by reposting as you?

    1. From Tamsin's comment, it would appear to be revenue, which makes it even worse as I don't expect income from sharing my hobby and it is offensive that someone would use what I have done to make money from it.

  2. I've seen this before with other blogs. The site stealing your content will have lots of advertising links. You should report the site to Blogger for IP theft if you haven't already done so.

    1. Interesting, thanks Tamsin. He does indeed have quite a lot of advertising links. If things don't improve I will let Blogger know.

    2. Tamsin's spot-on. By copying posts from you and others, people searching for similar stuff will have that blog appear high on the search list... probably even higher than the blogs they were stolen from, as 'Creepy Corridor' is a game itself so will + the search.

People check the blog out, maybe click on a link or two and each click adds money to the blogger's account.

    Hope it stops.

  5. I have heard of this before and possibly even the same blogger... I imagine if you go further back through his posts, those that are not yours, are probably still someone else's!
Not sure if a 'report abuse type' thing to blogger is worth a go, they may shut him down...

  7. The 200+ subscribers to the IHMN blog certainly know about this creep now, and I have been spreading the news elsewhere in the community.
To me, credit for creativity is important, so to have your stuff stolen like this is appalling, I even fell for it.
    Craig.

  8. That's very depressing news, Nate. Whoever this Mr Corridor is, he seems like a giant D-Bag. Thanks for telling us about it. I hope you follow Tamsin's advice and report him to Google Blogger.
Makes me wonder how many other blogs are getting stolen from.

  9. Should I be disappointed he hasn't ripped off my blog as well??

    1. I know what you mean - give him time! There is another blog, Miniature Musings of a Bear, which has reblogged my stuff before, and I've been quite flattered about it. However, he gave a link to my blog and due credit.

  10. How annoying, Nate. You simply don't need grief like this. Chin up my friend and here's hoping you'll soon be back to normal.

  11. Thanks for all of the support guys. The wargaming blog community is a small and friendly one, and it really doesn't need people like Creepy Corridor.

  12. Report him. Don't wait. All your writing is your copyright and he is stealing it to make money.

    I've had this too.

  13. Creepy does a terrible job of cataloging his thievery. It's a pain to navigate. He steals alot from http://wabcorner.blogspot.com/ as well.

The creep knows a good blog when she sees it; I know as I didn't see any of my shoddy painting or photography.

  14. Its just not cricket when stuff like this happens. I just checked out his site but there doesn't seem to be much on there. Maybe you reporting him has worked?
